Revision of the plant bug genus Diognetus, with descriptions of thirteen new species from the Oriental and Eastern Palearctic Regions (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae)

The mirine plant bug genus Diognetus Distant, 1904 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae: Mirinae: Mirini) is revised. Eighteen Oriental and Eastern Palearctic species are properly assigned to the genus. Diplotrichiella Poppius, 1915, syn. nov. Yamatolygus Yasunaga, 1994, synonymized with Diognetus; accordingly following two new combinations, one substitute name synonymy proposed: flavigenis (Horváth, 1905) comb. D. insulanus (Yasunaga, 1994) (transferred from Yamatolygus); yamato Yasunaga nom. for pilosus junior secondary homonym of (Poppius, 1914); rufescens 1914, = intonsus (valid name). Thirteen described as new: bagmaticus sp. (from Nepal), cheimon (Japan), dhampus (Nepal), duwalorum giganteus (Malaysia), gotohi laureus magnificus (Indonesia), minusculus puspae schuhorum styrax (Taiwan) vernus (Japan). generic characters reassessed discussed, on basis detailed observation external structures using scanning electron microscopy well male female genitalia.
